Wig Wamania
Voices Of Wonder
Glam-metal is back! And how! Resuscitating the Sunset Strip sound in the most circuitous route possible, Wig Wam raised mainstream eyebrows aplenty by coming ninth for Norway at Eurovision 2005 in a whirlwind of mascara, stripy strides, bricklayer pouts and (ulp!) sterling musicianship.
The joyously ludicrous Wig Wamania , a second album from vocalist Glam, guitarist Teeny, bassist Flash and drummer Sporty, is virtually impossible to dislike. Comparable to The Darkness but minus Justin Hawkins’s excruciating vocals, Rock My Ride , Gonna Get You Someday and Kill My Rock ’N’ Roll all swagger with the conviction of prime Def Leppard,
Thin Lizzy, Bon Jovi, Poison, Sweet and Van Halen.
Wig Wam break their British duck at the Firefest in October. Go on, dust down that Lycra jumpsuit and those sparkly platform boots... we dare ya!
