A little Sykes-otherapy
From page 5 of Classic Rock Magazine October 2003
With reference to the review of Thin Lizzy at London’s Astoria in the August issue, how can James Halbert describe John Sykes as being “too metal” for the band? What a load of nonsense! After all, Sykes was the last guitar player that Phil Lynott ever recruited – and I think Phil knew a bit about what sort of guy Lizzy needed.
So what about a long-overdue feature on John Sykes, a real Classic Rock-style guitar player? If you can’t feature Sykes, at least let’s have a bit less Elton John, Marilyn Manson and Type O Negative. Call these classic rock? I don’t bloody think so!
