BUCKET GETS THE CAN?

...And Izzy back in the Gunners frame again?
S PECULATION IS MOUNTING THAT GUITARIST IZZY STRADLIN will return to Guns N' Roses. W Axl Rose and company are hotly rumoured to have parted company with Buckethead, the eccentric guitarist whose stage gimmick is playing with an empty KFC container on his head. Typically, no reason has been offered for Buckethead's apparent departure. Nor, indeed, for his choice of on-stage headgear.
As recently as three months ago, ex-Gunners guitarist lzzy Stradlin told Classic Rock (issue 26) that he would consider working with the band again. Acknowledging that other former GN'R members may be waiting for the call for a reunion, he said: "A one-off gig would be easy. And an album? Me, Duff [McKagan, bassist] and Slash [guitarist] could go in and make a Guns N' Roses record in a week."
There may still be no sign of 'The Chinese Democracy', but GN'R will issue some official product in coming weeks. A live DVD of the the New Year's Eve show the band played in Las Vegas is launched in Japan on September 21, although (inevitably) a UK release has yet to be confirmed.
In related news, former GN'R guitarist Gilby Clarke and exStray Cats drummer Slim Jim Phantom are to release an album from their new band, Col. Parker, through Icon Records, the label run by actor Mel Gibson.
