Rise Above
Up from the ashes.
It hasn’t been an easy ride for Bill Steer. With a past steeped in grindcore, his
decision to return to his blues rock roots with Firebird was as welcome to many of his old fans as a cup of sick. Indeed, around the time of No. 3 in 2004 word was that the band were no more.
Thankfully that hasn’t been the case, and, reunited with original drummer Ludwig Witt, Steer has hit paydirt with style. Fiery and passionate, the cultured grooves of Carousel or Horse Drawn Man may not delight Napalm or Carcass fans, but the millions who dig Cream and Free and the blues originators will love it.
