(Trocadero TR 201821 ***** Jack Logan once produced a comic book depicting R.E.M.'s Peter Buck as a superhero. Buck repaid the compliment by hooking Logan up with producer Peter Jesperson, who discovered The Replacements. A hint of R.E.M. at their best drifts all the way through this, Logan's fourth album. With a fine collection of songs, ranging from guitar-driven rockers like 'Glorious World' to the brash orchestration of 'Hit Or Miss', and a voice redolent of Screaming Trees' Mark Lanegan, Logan is a serious contender for your attention.
