Pretty boys make pretty noise.

Swirl 360 are from California. If you didn’t realise this from their toothpaste smiles and the fact that their album is called California Blur, you won’t fail to spot it on these 13 tracks. This is the kind of music a press officer might refer to as ‘breezy’ or ‘sunkissed’. It evokes open roads and T-Birds with their tops down; people with good skin and no concept of irony.

If all that doesn’t put you off, you’ll find a decent record underneath California Blur’s relentless Americana. Songs like Oblivion and See You Around fizz with nagging hooks and air- punching optimism, while One & Only reveals a decent line in balladry. Give it a listen – but brush your teeth afterwards.
