Simple mistake
From page 4 of Classic Rock Magazine May 2004
Over the past 25 years or so I’ve been lucky enough to see most of the biggest and best names in rock at various venues in Glasgow. Fastforward to Classic Rock 65. I was reading Hugh Fielder’s article on Simple Minds and was amazed and confused to discover that two of Glasgow’s finest venues, the Barrowlands and the Apollo, are actually situated in one and the same building.
Although the Apollo is no longer with us, it was located about a mile away from the Barrowlands and the two were/are so different in design that a blind man could tell the difference on a dark night with a bag over his head. Clearly
Fielder is about as well-travelled as the all too many rock acts who announce a UK tour and play England but then fail to visit Scotland or Ireland ( Or Wales – Ed ) on their travels.

Nice to see a top magazine such as yours not scared to interview the great Simple Minds. Even thought they have been touring extensively over the last two years – they even released a new album – no journalist has wanted to know because of their supposed unfashionability.
This is very irritating, as I think Simple Minds are one of the most talented and influential bands of the last 20 years; they still have a massive following. So well done, Classic Rock . The next step will be for you to review of one of their festival dates this summer. They are a superb live band! Anon, via email
