DEF LEPPARD guitarist VIVIAN CAMPBELL is guesting on the new album by one of his former bands, the RIVERDOGS. He is also co-writing material with ROB LAMOTHE... MOTLEY CROE's new studio album is likely to be titled 'New Tattoo' and will be produced by MIKE CLINK... METALLICA's JAMES HETFIELD told a Boston radio station that the band are already writing and rehearsing new material. The band will have a track called 'I Disappear on the Mission Impossible 2 soundtrack, which also includes a cover of PINK FLOYD's classic Have A Cigar by BRIAN MAY and the FOO FIGHTERS... Former IRON MAIDEN singer PAUL Di'ANNO has just completed a new album called 'Nomad', which features all-Brazilian musicians... GOV'T MULE, featuring former Allman Bros guitarist WARREN WAYNES and bassist ALLEN WOODY, have just released their new album 'Life Before Insanity' in the States. No news yet of any UK availability... US melodic rock band ICON's 1978 album 'Night Of The Crime' has just been re-issued on CD by French label Axe Killer, in remastered form but without bonus tracks. They've also made Ausssie rockers THE ANGELS' 1978 release 'Face To Face' available again... The fourth annual LED ZEPPELIN Fan Convention takes place at The Eastern Monk, London EC3 on May 13. 'Ain't Life Grand', the second album by SLASH'S SNAKEPIT, was shelved at the last moment by Geffen Records. Guitarist Slash is currently seeking a new label to put it out... Ex-RAINBOW/DEEP PURPLE singer JOE LYNN TURNER is recording a new solo album for an early summer release... STATUS QUO release 'Famous In The Last Century', an album "classic rock 'n' roll songs", via Universal Music TV on April 17... THE ALMIGHTY have reformed and will release a comeback album in June. Besides original vocalist/guitarist RICKY WARWICK and drummer STUMP MONROE, they are joined by guitarist NICK PARSONS... Essential Records release an anthology of material by FAT MATTRESS, the band formed by former Jimi Hendrix bassist NOEL REDDING, on April 17... A four-CD boxed set from JUDAS PRIEST is being compiled by Sony for an autumn release. Meanwhile, Century Media are releasing an album by Priest singer TIM 'RIPPER' OWENS' previous band, WINTERS BANE. 'Heart Of A Killer' comes complete with bonus live and demo disc. The band's original singer AL ATKINS releases his fourth solo album, 'Victim Of Changes', through Neat Metal. It features a guest appearance from former Priest drummer DAVE HOLLAND... UK grog
