One Night In Madrid

Frontiers

Velvet-voiced frontman showcases rockstar proficiency.

Jeff Scott Soto must find life infuriating. He is in possession of a glorious voice, part David Coverdale, part Steve Perry –

none of your rubbish here –

some more than decent AOR tunes and a certain cheesy charisma, and yet two decades in the business have seen him a consistent step behind the pace. Live In Madrid showcases a funk metal direction that’s only adecade or so late, and yetSoto is such agood singer,it’sstill a blast. There’s a dip back for Talisman’s superlative I’ll Be Waiting and a tremendous new ballad Gin And Tonic Sky, plus a heap of extras that offer value to his sturdy gang of aficionados.
