Seminal live double is given anniversary overhaul
A REMIXED AND REmastered of the biggest-selling double live album ever has just been released in the States. 'Frampton Comes Alive! The 25th Anniversary Special Edition' celebrates the legendary 1976 release. Not only does the new double-CD package feature all the vintage hits like 'Show Me The Way', 'Do You Feel Like We Do' and 'Baby, I Love Your Way', it also includes three previously unreleased tracks, namely 'Just The Time Of Year', 'Nowhere's Too Far For My Baby ' and 'White Sugar'. These unreleased cuts were sourced from the same live shows as the original 'Frampton Comes Alive' but were not included due to the space limitations of the vinyl format. The new edition closes with a fourth bonus track, 'Day's Dawning' that's culled from a live radio broadcast in 1976 at the Record Plant Studios in Sausalito, California.
Like the '76 version, the '...25th Anniversary Special Edition' comes with its original cover art and essay by now-famous-film-director/former-musicjourno Cameron Crowe. The package also contains a booklet with new photos and additional liner notes including specific location and dates for each track recording (details left off the original packaging).
The original release of 'Frampton Comes Alive!' vaulted Frampton into the realms of superstar status. Having been critically acclaimed as a guitarist, songwriter and vocalist via his membership in Humble Pie, the rawness captured on the Pie's own 'Rockin The Fillmore' inspired him to deliver a live album of his own compositions.
