Reissues RocK cANDY
Re-experience the originals of 70s prog rock.
One of those now seemingly legendary bands that represent everything that’s truly Marmite about original 70s-era progressive rock, you probably either love Starcastle with all of your wistful, poetic heart, or you’ve never heard of them.
It matters not. For here, on these splendid reissues of their first two cosmos-wobbling albums, is the very best of their music all over again, only with even better packaging (and the original gatefolds were pretty mind-boggling). Prepare to delight then in such authentic
prog epics as Lady Of The Lake and Sunfield from their eponymous 1976 debut, or Fountains and True To The Light from the possibly even better follow-up, Fountains Of Light .
Imagine Yes rebranded as Maybe – that is, colossal, conceptual prog, but played with a lighter, more melodic touch – and you have the wondrous Starcastle. With the prog scene now in better shape than it has been for 40 years, maybe their time has finally come. nnnnnnnn nn Starcastle nnnnnnnnnn Fountains Mick Wall
