travelling with Ozzy, so I just ran into Leppard. They were a happening young band then, but everyone mixed well because they were just regular people. It’s funny looking at a picture of the group now with Pete Willis [line-up below] in it.
“The shot was taken in Fort Lauderdale; the band were playing at the Sunshine Theatre. Ozzy was on great form. I’d just spent a day at Disneyland with him – we went up Space Mountain.
“The thing about doing a line-up shot is that you have to get everyone’s attention, which is why I got Ozzy to grab his crotch, which got everyone laughing.The trick of a good photo is to get everyone to look natural, and I think one of the reasons this picture works is because everybody looks like they are really having a good time. You can see it’s a warm photo in the sense that everybody has good feelings towards each other.
