Opeth’s Mikael Åkerfeldt have completed writing their collaborative project, which has been christened Storm Corrosion . Expect it in 2012.
Derek St Holmes, the rhythm guitarist/ vocalist who played on many of Ted Nugent’s finest albums including 1978’s celebrated Double Live Gonzo!, has once again returned to the Loudman’s band.
Phil Rudd has had a drugs charge overturned by a New Zealand court. The AC/DC drummer, 56, had been found guilty of cannabis possession, but successfully appealed on the grounds that a conviction would harm his chances of touring.
Whitesnake have hired Brian Ruedy (whose CV includes working with Bret Michaels and Brian ‘Head’ Welch of Korn) as their new touring keyboard player.
Scott Ian (pictured) of Anthrax is to take a leave of absence when his band make up the Big Four at the Sonisphere Festival in June. The guitarist and his partner, Pearl Aday, are expecting their first child. Ian’s replacement will be Sepultura guitarist Andreas Kisser.
Art Garfunkel, speaking during the promotion of a 40th-anniversary edition of Simon & Garfunkel’s Bridge Over Troubled Water album, said he and Paul Simon may tour together again before the end of the year.
