A far from essential rock memoir.

It's difficult not to feel a twinge of sympathy for Lawrence Hull. A self-confessed music fanatic and professional hanger-on, the 40-something seems to have written this book for no other reason than to regale the world with malnourished anecdotes about his various encounters with the few rock'n'roll greats who didn't see him coming and swiftly raise the drawbridge.

Rock And Roll Rush! is full of breathless, sycophantic twittering, stories with no discernible point and, worryingly, a photo of an abandoned breakfast tray bearing the caption 'Van Helen garbage? But Hull's enthusiasm is inexhaustible and, since he financed this book himself, it would be churlish to condemn the poor, over-excitable sod for wanting to share it with the world. •••
