Universal

Rooster on the prowl.

He will be forever associated with Atomic Rooster but Vincent Crane's career stretched further than that and this 2-CD anthology rounds up the best of the rest for a more rounded picture of the keyboard player who rivalled Keith Emerson in every way except ego. In fact it makes a betterjob of the rest than it does of Atomic Rooster which occupies the first CD.

The rest of the collection includes his collaborations with Arthur Brown (Fire), Rory Gallagher (from his first album), Peter Green and Dexy's Midnight Runners, proving that his playing remained unaffected by the mental demons that eventually consumed him in 1989. •••••••1
