The high point of 70s instrumental rock is Tony Williams Lifetime’s Turn It Over album (above), according to Titan guitarist Josh Anzano: “He [Tony Williams] was Miles Davis’s drummer in the early 70s. He was fed up with the pretentiousness of the jazz community so he started this band with Jack Bruce and John McLaughlin. There are no overdubs, it’s sloppy and there are some mistakes, but the playing is ‘on’ all the time. It probably has more energy than most punk rock records I’ve ever heard.”
