Nuclear Blast

Ve haff vays of making you listen to decent power metal. The whole Euro power metal trip has become almost mundane, with too many sad-sack bands peddling rag-and-bone riffs, disguising mediocrity under the cover of silly hairstyles and ludicrous song titles. So praise the gods of gonzo for Primal Fear, a German band who fully understand what makes a great album – and on Seven Seals they come damn close to pulling it off.

Seven Seals bristles with testosterone-fuelled, hightension anthems, in particular the title track and The Immortal Ones . Veteran singer Ralf Scheepers has a voice that can soar without ever straining, while the twin guitars of Stefan Leibing and Tom Naumann burn at volume and with no little passion.

This album comfortably distances Primal Fear from the pack.
