Up For School Tomorrow?
From page 59 of Classic Rock Magazine January 2000
As a 15-year old reader of Classic Rock, I probably fall into your category of earlyto-bed rock fans (see issue Eight, Communique). However, I was up ever so late on the night of 19 October, in fact, I didn't get to bed until a quarter to one (gosh!).The reason was Arena, who were playing LA2.Although I have been to several gigs, notably Pendragon and Camel (you're beginning to get the flavour of my musical tastes?), I was overwhelmed by what I experienced that night. The music was so full of power, I was standing right at the front, with guitarist John Mitchell playing literally in my face amazing!
The support band Grey Lady Down were also excellent, complementing Arena brilliantly. This was Arena's only UK date on their tour and such a powerful performance deserves a place in your magazine. I was wondering whether you're running a review of the gig? Daniel Berkeley (by email)
After all that, why would we bother? And while you're at it, take 250 lines of 'I must not upstage Classic Rock reviewers' for your trouble.
