More Ratners than De Beers. Despite being one of the finest bands to emerge from the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal, major success has always eluded Diamond Head.
This DVD captures them live at London’s Astoria in November 2005. The band are powerpacked and passionate, and there’s plenty of good oldfashioned headbanging from the fans at the front. Brian Tatler cranks out the riffs with the studious detachment of Tony Iommi, while frontman Nick Tart (a cross between Bruce Dickinson and Chesney Hawkes) proves an able replacement for Sean Harris.
But for a group intent on bringing Lightning To The Nations , DH lack that vital spark. Fate has decreed they will always occupy the lower rungs of rock’s ladder and subconsciously they seem to have accepted that.
Extras include an interview where the band reflect on the heritage of the NWOBHM, plus footage of them recording their album All Will Be Revealed in a posh country house.
