The Bermondsey Joyriders
REFRY RED
Punk'n'rol I with bottleneck. What a strange brew' The Bermondsey Joyriders have somehow
pulled off a really impudent mix of influences. Their sounds of the 70s jostle together logically enough: bright, careering punk, fleet-footed rock'n'roll, Facestype bar-room boogie. Cockney terrace anthems and Americanstyled garage and sleaze, saluted with a stream of New York Dolls song titles in Part Of My Problem. What gives these songs their unique character, however, is a bizarre blues infusion, with frontman Gary Lammin playing a capable if extraordinary slide guitar that slithers relentlessly through Football, folds into the thick stew of Al! That Darkness and dashes madly along with Who R' Ya?Lammin (ex-Cock Sparrer, now joined by Heavy Metal Kids drummer Keith Boyce and Chelsea bassist Martin Stacey) also brings his acting skills to the mix to deliver witty and original vocals. •••••••
