Ghouls
Meat 'n potatoes metal, US style.
Ever wonder what happened to Odin, the Sunset Strip buffoons from The Decline Of Western Civilization Part II: The Metal Years? Well, their future Armored Saint guitarist Jeff Duncan and his drummer brother Shawn have a band called DC4 that also features Rowan Robertson, the English guitarist that in the 1990s made headlines for joining Dio as a 19-year-old.
No doubt about it Explode has a sturdy metallic spine, Jeff Duncan's powerhouse vocals comparing surprisingly favourably to John Bush (Anthrax/Armored Saint), while Rock And Roll Disease and God Complex are hard-driving and distinctly hummablc. Though the occasional track disappoints, the end result sounds not unlike the Saint themselves perhaps inevitable given that bassist Joey Vera handled the production.
