Swedish thrash broadens its horizons.

One of the most prominent and prolific bands at the thrashier end of Scandinavia’s melodic death metal scene, Carnal Forge have built their reputation around a refusal to deviate from a singularly fast, furious and brutal path. As a result, Testify For My Victims , the band’s first album with former Revolver vocalist Jens C Mortensen, comes as something of a surprise. While still endearingly violent throughout, there’s a greater depth of styles and dynamics on display than on the Swedes’ five previous albums. It’s an evolutionary step that places them in the middle ground between headsdown myopia and the more sophisticated territory currently inhabited by The Haunted.

Easily their best album to date, this is where Carnal Forge smarten up and start making waves.
