Warner

Lean industrial metal pickings. Nearly a decade has passed since the thrashloving industrial brawn of 1998’s Wisconsin Death Trip put founding frontman Wayne Static’s brainchild on the map. While questions of whether their Ministry-extracted, sub-Alec Empire experimentations have anything more to offer are inevitable, the comparatively minimalist, drum ’n’ bass stomp of tracks like Submission and Forty Ways leave little doubt that these Los Angeles mavens’ beaten horse isn’t quite dead yet.

But whether Cannibal is more than mere goth-club fodder is a different matter entirely. Never quite waning in intensity,

this is a high-octane but ultimately taxing listen better suited to nights under black lights than wearing headphones.
