his launch as a solo artist on the excellent Ramshackle Beauty , Daniel Wylie continues to find fresh riches in his singular brand of harmonyladen, beautifully melodic, summery pop.

The samba-inflected Define Love shows him at his celebratory sunshine finest but, as the title suggests, this isn’t just an album that focuses on the fair-weather side. Tell Them The Truth is a dark put-down, while the major/ minor chord sequence of You’re The Only One That’s Going Down sets up a cautionary broadside against getting mired in the past, complete with spooky, high-register synth effects. The High Cost... is a cornucopia of ear-tingling sounds and eagle-eyed songs from a great, underrated British songwriter. Recommended.
