The prime nominees for the 2005 Grammy awards were a rum old bunch.
Green Day’s American Idiot was named Rock Album of the Year, and the title track is on here. Evanescence were in contention for (take a deep breath, now) Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group With Vocal. This CD includes My Immortal.
The likes of Velvet Revolver, Metallica, Slipknot and Motörhead were also up for Grammys in several rock/metal sub-categories, but they’re excluded from this mainstream compilation in favour of the mind-numbing likes of Usher, Joss Stone, Norah Jones and the inevitable U2. But happily, there’s no room for those Franz Ferdinand bastards. Hah!
