‘The Bronx’
(Wichita)
Peddling lively, entertaining rock’n’roll, The Bronx may come from Los Angeles but they’re more at home locked in a garage than out there on Sunset Strip, gulping down the bright lights. This 11- tracker ignores bombast, image and gimmicks and just goes for a good-time, high-octane attitude.
Imagine early Guns N’ Roses getting in the ring with The Stooges and beating each other senseless, then the whole posse going to a party thrown by The Wildhearts at an illegal drinking den, and you’re in the right ball park.
The Bronx are the real deal. They’re not trying to jump out of the bushes on the first passing trend, they seem to eat, breathe and snort this type of music.
And in ‘Heart Attack American’, ‘They Will Kill Us (Without Mercy)’ plus ‘Los Angeles’ this band have songs that bury the sharp end right into the soul and the crotch.
There’s a new breed of hard rock bands emerging who’ve got the timing, the balls and arrogance to carry off this raw-to-the-bone music, and The Bronx are among the best of them.
★★★★ ★ Malcolm Dome HIGH CONCEPT Riding on the front bumper of the new raw, raucous rock bandwagon.
